Price too high for a campground that offers so little. The pool was the only thing going for it yet did not have enough water to let the skimmers get rid of bugs. Customers do that themselves. There was no TV, the internet useless. The owner gave the usual, "there's nothing wrong with it, I use it every day myself." To add to this, our cell phone with zillions of little people running around to keep up the connections, had no service. Overall, I wouldn't stay there again.
Very small park. Not much room to turn around. No checks or credit cards, cash only is a pain. The WiFi worked very well, best I've seen yet. The staff is courteous yet right on to business. No discounts, a bit pricy.
The lady who checked us in was very nice. Surprised at the price, later that night we learned why the price was so low. Right next to the train tracks, the whistle woke us up every 1/2 half hour all night long. The price per month was only $155 and there were some long term folks there. I slept with ear plugs but was still woken up.
I agree with the first review that this is just another overpriced KOA with little to offer at this time of year, April. While we did buy a new KOA card here, the $60 bill for one night at this campground was too high. We could have stayed in a motel for less than that. The campground wasn't all that bad but we probably won't go back there.
The only thing we had trouble with was the Wi-Fi. In our slot, the internet was not available. We learned something on this visit, to drive through with our laptop on and Wireless Assistant engaged to see if the computer can pick up a good signal. We now ask for the site so we can take the laptop right there and see if it works OK. Other than that, this was a near-perfect 3 days to spend in Vegas. There were many long term residents, people who lived there and worked somewhere in town. The only thing I have to add is that we weren't too far from a number of (at least 50) homeless people waiting for help in front of a shelter. They were living on the streets. Inside the campground you see nothing of this. The owner couldn't do enough for you. They give you a gate opener to get in and out. He was building a restaurant and if we ever visit Las Vegas again, we will most certainly chose the "Hitchin' Post" and see how well he can cook!
This KOA was very overpriced for the services offered. We had electric, water and a dump station. In a smaller rig like ours, the Grey and Black tanks do not last long with 2 people using the rest room and shower on board so we had to dump the next morning. This KOA experienced a bad fire and the building was gone. There were no sewer hookups. To add to this lack of service, they asked for $5 to use the dump station. While we probably wouldn't go back here, they do have an asset; they were miles from the train tracks so the night we spend there was very quiet and peaceful. The hosts were very nice. We took a guided tour by a Native American Navaho guide and the tour was well worth the price. "Milton" Made the trip a big success.
Concrete, level pads were the only asset. We checked in and managed to set up the rig when a train went by. After a lost night of sleep in Grants N.M., I went over to the office to ask if this was a main line. The tracks were right next to the campground. The lady was honest and told me they run all night long, probably the same trains that run through Grants, N.M. I asked for a refund and they did give it to us. We left for the KOA along the road that leads to the Canyon.
The park was maintained and secured by a gate. We weren't too pleased with where they put us, right next to a noisy lift station but we were tired and the noise wasn't noticeable after awhile. This was a great location to see Meteor Crater. We went through the Painted Desert, stayed overnight at the campground and on to the crater in the next morning. All in all, a good visit.
Many long term residents with junk piled around their sites but some sites were very well kept, grass tended to, small fences and those folks were nice. Others were not even given to say hello. The owner gave the appearance she wished no one would bother her. The price was a little high considering no TV or Internet service. The park was too far from Sequoia & King Canyon National parks. We had paid for 3 days and left in 2. I was not comfortable in this park and would not go back.
